Look who's talking now: PrintEx 07 speakers announced

Aimed at generating debate and discussion on issues of key industry interest and concern, the first forum, on Thursday 24 May, will be facilitated by journalist, author and former rugby player for Australia, Peter FitzSimons (pictured). Peter will moderate debate around the theme: Control Your Future – Insights and strategies for survival and success in an increasingly complex print industry environment.




Gordon Towell, managing director, Geon Group will set the scene with a keynote presentation that looks at the impacts of outsourcing off-shore, the implications for Australia and how these might affect the industry’s long-term sustainability. A panel of leading experts including Andrew Cester, managing director – Manufacturing, Whirlwind Print; Mark Reid, managing director, SES Sprint and Gus Balbotin, planning manager, Lonely Planet, will bring their expertise to the table before the issue is thrown open for audience participation and questions.



On Friday 25 May, journalist and documentary maker, Jenny Brockie (pictured), will facilitate the second forum: Digital Dilemmas – Making sense of the array of impacts, technologies and issues caused by living in, and supplying to, a digital world.




Keynote presenter Allan Robinson, group manager letters, Australia Post will look at some of the opportunities that the digital world now offers companies, and some of the implications for traditional print methods. Panel members Professor Margaret Jackson, Professor of Law RMIT and David Holton, chairman and managing director, profile marketing will join the discussion.



“PrintEx has always been an innovator and this year the PrintEx Board decided it was appropriate to lead the way in offering a forum for addressing some of the bigger picture issues which affect all who work in the printing and graphics industry,” said Grant Churchill, chairman, PrintEx07.



“The main objective is to create debate and raise the level of awareness and understanding about these issues. We will be inviting key industry leaders to attend as part of the audience and to play an active role as participants in the discussions.”
