Low print prices and capacity rates in focus at NSW Forum

Perennial problems for NSW printers such as the ongoing price wars and over capacity in the industry will take centre stage at the NSW Printing Industry Forum at Rosehill on 29 March.

The forum, organised by Printing Industries, is intended to give printers the opportunity to voice their concerns and opinions about the issues facing the industry. Economic and technology trends will be analysed by an expert panel and suggestions as to solutions sought from all participants.

Similar forums have been successfully held in Queensland and South Australia with the remaining states currently being scheduled.
The forum poses a number of thought provoking questions including:
• Why are margins being dramatically cut?
• What costs are printers absorbing that should be passed onto customers?
• Why is it that NSW printers are reporting the lowest capacity utilisation rates?

An online industry survey was run over several weeks seeking data and comments as part of the background research for the forum. This has now closed while the material is compiled in to a format for exclusive release and discussion as part of the forum.

Communications consultant, Steve Crowe, will facilitate the forum. Panellists include Mark Wilton (DES Australia), Paul Richardson (Lindsay Yates), Stephen Michell and Tony Kabrovski partners in HLB Mann Judd. Stephen conducted the highly successful national forum, Surviving the global financial crisis, and will bring new lessons and concepts to the forum.
