Luke Wooldridge sets the standard as new ISO chairman
Colour specialist set to brighten up Australian ISO Technical committee by promoting ISO-certified printers online.
Wooldridge (pictured), a Kayell colour specialist takes over the role from Printing Industries CEO, Philip Andersen, who has spent the last two years in the hot seat. The AU/TC 130 committee is a joint initiative of the Lithographic Institute of Australia and Printing Industries.
First up, Wooldridge wants to raise awareness of the group. “I personally feel a lot of people in the industry aren’t aware of what we are doing, so I want to boost our profile,” he told Print21. “I’m hoping to put out a regular bulletin outlining what we’ve actually done so people can see what standards are being picked up, reviewed and commented on.”
A revamp of the group’s website is also on the cards. Wooldridge revealed that there is a possibility of creating a link to a page containing details of all ISO certified printers in Australia.
“There is no one independent website that lists all certified printers, no matter who certifies them,” he said. “We are approaching companies about sponsorship – it’s early days but it’s an initiative we are looking at doing.”
Wooldridge expects that interest in the various ISO print standards will grow. “In many cases, companies are already requesting that their printers comply to ISO 12647,” he added.
As part of the hand-over, Andersen will still remain as a member of the committee. “Printing Industries continue to support the ideals of the TC-130 committee and it continuing contribution to the promotion of internationally recognised standards in Australia,” he added.
