MacDermid inks brighten up HP's prospects
The future looks a whole lot more colourful for HP after introducing UV inks from MacDermid ColorSpan into its offering.
The completion of this acquisition, which was first announced in September 2007, marks a promising start for HP, as it enables the company to extend its digital offerings with products that are complimentary to those from HP Scitex and HP Designjet. According to Shane Lucas, general manager, imaging and printing group, HP South Pacific, (pictured) customers can now achieve greater business growth.
"The finalisation of the ColorSpan integration is very exciting as it furthers HP's ability to be a one-stop shop digital vendor," he said. "The ColorSpan printers, now under the Designjet and Scitex brands, enable PSPs who print on flexible and rigid media to partner with HP and benefit from our experience and breadth of offer."
Lucas said that HP's team spent time assessing the portfolio alignment, conducting testing and developing a re-branding strategy for former ColorSpan products and ensuring that they met HP quality standards. Now, he has plans to continue the expansion.

"I'm also looking forward to bringing NUR into the mix," Lucas said. "With ColorSpan and NUR added to the HP Graphic Arts portfolio we have the capacity to offer the most comprehensive and expansive range of solutions for the graphic arts market."
