Macquarie Lighthouse Press shines with Truly Green certification

Macquarie University print shop steps into the spotlight with Truly Green certification from GASAA.

Garry Knespal, (pictured) executive officer of GASAA awarded the print firm their Truly Green Certification today in an on-site presentation. Knespal said he was impressed with Macquarie’s adherence to the detailing training provided by Truly Green course presenter Paul Kohn of AKP Leura.

“All the staff showed a strong commitment to environmental improvements and the company had already made significant advances in the areas of waste toner management, power consumption, paper handling. The move to more environmentally friendly printing practices is part of a wider sustainability strategy, through which the University aims to be environmentally sound, socially just, and economically viable in all its activities,” he said.

“Their environmental initiatives dovetail nicely into their lean manufacturing program, another core part of Macquarie Lighthouse Press’s approach to efficient work practices.”

Macquarie Lighthouse Press manager, John Cason, believes this certication will help the business significantly. “I am delighted that Macquarie Lighthouse Press has gained the highest industry approved environmental credentials that are consistent with the broader university’s continuous efforts to reduce its environmental impact,” he said.

To date, there are 15 certified Truly Green printers nationally, with 10 more on track to graduate before the end of the year.
