Magazine web printers take top three Sappi prizes

Australian companies beat the rest of the trading region in the Sappi Trading Printers of the Years Awards.

Offset Alpine, Hannanprint and PMP Print made a clean sweep against printers from Asia and Central and South America. The three won gold, silver and bronze respectively in the prestigious global competition. Now Offset Alpine goes on to compete against the Europeans, USA and Africa n the world titles.

It will be one of two gold medal winners from Australia with Andrew Neale from Scott Print in WA taking out top prize in the general print category. If successful on the world stage the winners will score a prized Sappi Printer of the Year Elephant Trophy along with a slap-up prize giving celebration for themselves and their customers.

According to Wayne Rau, Sappi Trading CEO, (pictured right with gold winner, Michael Kinnimont, Offset Alpine) the competition has become a global benchmark for the printing industry. "There is no doubt that since Sappi launched the global competition, the standards of Sappi Trading's print customers have kept pace and in some cases have even led the way," he said.

Now held every second year, the Sappi Printer of the Year is the major international printing competition for Australian and NZ printers, the only one that truly represents a global competition. There are 11 categories of printing – annual reports, books, brochures, calendars, catalogues, digital print, magazines (web and Sheetfed), packaging and labels, general print and printer’s promotion.

This year Australian printers overall won nine Awards – two gold, three silver and four bronze.
