MAN Roland rolls out new perfector press

The 'InlinePerfector' model will use a single-drum sheet-turning system, and will also features semi-automatic plate changing and fully automatic perfecting changeover as standard with each press. The machine effectively takes the perfecting technology of the R700 press and makes it available in the R500 configuration.

John Hansen, general manager of print and bindery at IPP, claims customers are already expressing interest in the new machine. “We've been talking to operators looking for superior performance in a half-sized perfecting machine, so we're already in discussions now.”

Hansen claims the perfecting configuration of the R700 is known in the industry as cutting edge, and predicts its success as part of the R500 model. “We're very much looking forward to the first installations, and it'll be a fantastic machine for the market,” he says.

The machine boasts a maximum speed of 15,000 sheets per hour in full mode and 16,000 straight, and can handle stock from 60-600 microns. It can be configured from two up to 10 printing units in a 5/5 configuration, and uses the company's third-generation OptiPrint jackets on the impression cylinders downsteam of the perfecting unit.

The machine will make its exhibition debut at Ipex in Birmingham during April next year.
