It’s being touted as an ideal entry point for printers looking to break into label converting – and now the new Mark Andy Digital One label press is en route to Australian shores, with one on order in Western Australia and another to be shown at PacPrint in Melbourne next month.
The Digital One is distributed in Australia by Aldus-Tronics, who will feature the press on its stand, number F60, at PacPrint. Ian Guanaria, general manager of Aldus-Tronics, is looking forward to demonstrating it for visitors. “The Digital One was released at Labelexpo Chicago in September 2016 and had an immediate impact within the industry in Australia and overseas. The first Digital One is due to be installed in Australia in May,” he said.
The first Digital One to reach Australia will be installed at one of Aldus-Tronics’ clients in Western Australia late next month. The press offers CMYK digital printing at 1200x1200 dpi, and has a single flexo station for in-line converting and finishing, including spot colour, varnish, lamination, cold foiling, die cutting, stripping, and slitting.
Speaking before its debut at Labelexpo Americas last year, Tim Brasher, manager of business development at Mark Andy, said the Digital One is an affordable digital solution for short-run label production. “Demands for digital capabilities are steadily increasing. Digital One is a viable solution for converters allowing them to engage with more customers and seek more opportunities to generate revenue for their businesses,” Brasher said.
Though Aldus has exhibited at every PacPrint since the show was established in the 1970s, 2017 will see the first combined Aldus-Tronics stand at PacPrint since the company merged with Tronics in January. Aside from the Digital One press, the stand will also feature a Rotoflex VSI slitter/rewinder, which will be installed at a plant in Queensland shortly after PacPrint.
