BJ Ball continues to sponsor the Mohawk competition as others fade away, heartened by this year’s good turnouts of designers in Melbourne and Sydney this week.

The bi-annual competition to find the best in print design is proving its worth, attracting increased entries and enthusiastic engagement with printing from the design community. According to Tony Bertrand, marketing manager, BJ Ball, it is imperative that the industry continues to promote the use of print in the design community.

“Of course, we want to you buy more paper from us, but it’s important to remember that print is a premium marketing channel for you and your clients,” he told the packed turnout at Sydney’s Art Hotel in Pitt Street on Wednesday.

“The Mohawk show is the only one of its kind left but we believe it’s important to remind everyone of the benefits of good print design.”

The winning categories were shared between four design studios – all from Sydney: Trigger: Re Sydney: Matthew Roland Bannister: and Garbett Design. Blue Star Print, Carbon 8, along with Theo Pettaras’ Digitalpress and Aisle 6ix shared the printing credits. There were over 31 finalists with Jason Little, chairman of AGDA leading the judges.

Bertrand assured the audience that with their continued support, the Mohawk print-design competition will continue to be a feature of the industry landscape for years to come.
