The Australian Taxation Office has launched federal court proceedings to wind up Melbourne screen printing business Multi-Choice.
The Deputy Commissioner of Taxation last month lodged an application for a winding up order of Multi-Choice Screen Printing and T-Shirt Wholesale, and the Federal Court (Victoria) has now set a date next month to hear the case.
The ATO recently has used winding up orders to chase delinquent taxpayers, particularly companies, according to insolvency firm Worrells.
“The application for the winding up is based on insolvency but due to privacy issues we can’t give any further information,” says a spokesperson for the Australian Government Solicitor.
Multi-Choice has serviced the wholesale and retail industry for 22 years from its factory in Moorabbin East, 19 km south east of the CBD.
A staff member who answered the phone said the doors were still open and the business was operating as usual. Owner/director Kwong Xi has been unavailable for comment.
