Nathan Woods is LIA (NSW) Graduate of the Year
Woods came from seven finalists – three printers, two prepress operators, a binder and a screen printer – to claim the prize at an LIA dinner at Abbottsford on Tuesday night. A good roll up of delegates continued the current Association revival that has seen attendance at events increase across NSW, Victoria and South Australia.
Andy Vels Jensen, managing director of Heidelberg Australia and New Zealand, (pictured above on left with Nathan Woods and Darren Marshall of The Connection) was on hand to present the prize as well as entertain with a frank and funny account of his own career from the days as apprentice with the once mighty Danish-based, East Asiatic Corporation. The apprentices were well supported by their work colleagues and families.
The other finalist were:
- John Frazer – binder – Craft Printing
- Tibor Sic – printer – Penfold Buscombe
- Paul Varga – screen printer – Sony Music
- Tristan Lupton – printer – Rural Press
- David Van Den Bosch – prepress – McMillan Printing
- Kye Peter Hislop-Dewar – printer – Pacmetal Services ( who is currently in the UK. He was represented by his Dad, Jeff Hislop.)
