Need for speed sees PMI invest in HP Indigo 7000
Melbourne printer, PMI, upgrades one of its HP Indigo 5000 presses for new 7000 model.
The company, which was founded by Chris Zapris, (pictured) currently managing director, became the first customer for the HP Indigo 5000 digital press in the Asia-Pacific region when it purchased two of the machines. Last month, it made the decision to upgrade one of those for a new HP Indigo 7000 press.
“We decided to swap one of the 5000s for the new 7000 because of its phenomenal speed,” explained Zapris. “There can be economy only where there is efficiency. Both achievements have been passed on to our customer.”
The press was launched prior to drupa in 2008 and is capable of producing speeds of 120 ppm in four-colour and 240 ppm in two-colour, with a duty cycle of 3.5 million impressions per month.
Zapris said that that quality of the Indigo presses was the defining factor for both sales. He said that there was no need to look at any other suppliers as the 7000 provides a superior solution on a higher-volume, higher-capacity platform.
“It’s a quality machine and that matches our philosophy at PMI,” he said.
