New deadlines for National Print Awards
Time is running out for printers from Tasmania, Western Australia, South Australia and the Northern Territory to produce their best work if they wish to be eligible for the National Print Awards.
The NPA is undergoing significant changes, becoming a 'best of the best' competition that permits entry only through winning at the local state and territory awards.
Scott Telfer, chairman of the 26th NPA said that the changes will bring uniformity to the printing industry.
"Over the past couple of years we have been working closely with the various state and territory awards organisers to bring our competition categories into line with each other so that winners from each state competition can be entered in the national competition," he said.
"This means the first stage of the National Print Awards judging will be done at state level, with only the gold medal entries forwarded on to compete at a national level."
Those intending to enter the National Print Awards will need to make sure their entries are prepared in plenty of time for entry in to the relevant state competition, as this will bring the deadline forward in some states.
"Printers in Tasmania, Western Australia, South Australia and the Northern Territory will need to move particularly quickly as entries for their PICA awards close shortly," Telfer said.
State and territory awards are scheduled for the following dates:
* Tasmanian PICAs will be held on Saturday 9 August 2008
* South Australian/Northern Territory PICAs will be held on Friday 22 August 2008
* Western Australian PICAs will be held on Saturday 23 August 2008
* Victorian PICAs will be held on Friday 17 October 2008
* PrintNSW Excellence Awards will be held on Friday 10 October 2008
