New-look local Heidelberg team

Staff move onwards and upwards at Heidelberg Australia/New Zealand.

The company is on the cusp of a major restructure following an internal promotion and a strategy to deal with the challenges of today’s market.

Glenn Plummer, long-time general manager of marketing and product management is leaving Australia for Singapore in June to head up consumables and marketing for the Asia Pacific region.

Andy Vels Jensen, (pictured) managing director, HAN Heidelberg, said that Plummer’s promotions and the ensuing flow-on of appointments are a reflection of the investment the company has made in developing staff and succession planning.

“Glenn was offered the promotion and a regional position and I was extremely pleased to see him take it on,” Vels Jensen said.

As Plummer vacates the hot seat, Alastair Hadley, general manager sales, will now add marketing and product management to his portfolio. Bill Wall will continue to head up consumables, reporting to Hadley.

Two old-time staff, David Irvine and Rudi Kolbach have decided to retire on 31 July and the end of 2009 respectively. Irvine will be succeeded by Shane Hanlon, who moves from southern regional sales manager to take up remarketed equipment; while current Heidelberg account manager, Brian Evans, takes over from Kolbach.

It isn’t a complete farewell for Kolbach, however, who will continue to work in a support role based in Sydney after the handover.

Vels Jensen expects the renewal phase to be complete by the time that PacPrint opens in May. He sees the development key to facing the challenges that await the printing industry and world at large.

“With downturns come opportunities for existing Heidelberg employees to step up and for others to move onto bigger and better jobs,” he said.

“It gives new faces an opportunity to move up and shine.”
