New round of GAMAA scholars

Three new printing scholars awarded the 2009 GAMAA Leadership Programme Scholarship.

According to Samantha Crock, education manager for GAMAA, the selection process, which included a written application and personal interview, was as tough as ever.

“The 2009 scholarship round attracted a high calibre of applicants which made selection extremely difficult,” she said.

After a gruelling decision process, the organisation decided upon: Darren Reynolds, production manager at Cryovac, Christoph Lebesmuehlbacher, customer support manager at Heidelberg and Stephen Murphy, press operation manager at Fairfax Printers.

Reynolds looks forward to the chance learn from others and establish new contacts in the industry. “To be able to network with likeminded peers will bring a fresh perspective on the new issues the industry and its future leaders must face and adapt to,” he said.

For Lebesmuehlbacher (pictured), it is also a chance to expand his knowledge and experiences.

“The programme will undoubtedly permit me to further my academic studies and allow me to become an even more active player in the future of our printing industry,” he said.

Mitchell Mulligan, president of GAMAA congratulated the three and wished them success in their studies.

“I welcome the new scholars and commend them on their commitment to furthering their education,” Mulligan said.
