Dainippon Screen introduces its latest CtP system to offer a larger plate size to better service packaging and POP sectors. The PlateRite Ultima 1600N joins Screen’s 1600 family optimised for large format sheet-fed and web offset applications, bringing a bigger plate size of 1470mm x 1180mm to the table.

The 1600N (pictured) boasts production speed of 42 plates-per-hour at 2400 dpi, as well as an all-new auto-loader option, the MA-L 1600N, supplying 420 plates automatically from multi-cassettes. The 1600N’s plate size fits almost all 16 pp A4 presses on the market, and opens up the field to packaging and POP printers. According to Peter Scott, managing director, Screen Australia, the new system targets packaging presses and any VLF application where rapid job changes are crucial.

“The introduction of the PlateRite 1600N is very timely as the demand for VLF plate sizes delivered quickly for fast job-changes is increasing, as print runs shorten. The latest GLV (grating light valve) technology in the 1600N is the same as found in our PTR 8900 B1 size CtP recorders and has proven very reliable and precise, using MEMS technology to modulate the exposures,” said Scott.

The 1600N prioritises ease of plate handling and premium image quality, and offers connectivity with almost all workflows and RIPs via Gigabit Ethernet or S-PIF. The PlateRite 1600N is available from Screen Australia and its plate reseller partners, Ferag, Fujifilm, manroland and Xingraphics.
