New wide format printer leads Canon's pigment strategy

Canon's class-leading W6200 wide format printer combines superior speed and print quality to lead the pigment ink revolution

Canon Australia has released its W6200 wide format inkjet colour graphics printer. Superseding the highly successful W7250, the W6200 becomes the flagship model for Canon's strategy to make pigment inks the new standard in wide format printing.

Equally suited to copy shops, art reproduction, photography and pre-press departments, the W6200 accommodates print media up to 24" wide and incorporates Canon's revolutionary one-inch-wide, high-density print head.

Steven Brown, National Product Manager - Production and Graphic Arts, Canon Australia, said the W6200 will lead the way in pigment-ink based wide format printers.

"Canon pigment inks provide sustained colour in UV environments, delivering increased durability and lifespan of the printed output without any loss in colour gamut size compared to dye inks. We believe that Canon's pigment ink will be the new standard for wide format printers, and this device is the first of our models that will operate exclusively using pigment-ink.

"In addition, the W6200 is easily the fastest printer in its class with the ability to save precious minutes on even the most demanding print jobs. It is a highly sophisticated printer, while retaining a user-friendliness that ensures any user will be able to produce stunning results with the device," said Mr Brown.

Based on Canon's exclusive Bubble Jet technology, the W6200 utilises the same print head technology as the acclaimed W8200 which has already taken the market by storm in the B0 area. Canon's revolutionary print head technology incorporates 7680 tiny ink nozzles - 1280 for each of the six colours, where competing models offer only 96 to 304 nozzles for each colour. The W6200 is capable of printing an A1 page in less than 2 minutes, almost five minutes ahead of its nearest rival, and with greater resolution. In fact the W6200 will print at 1200 x 1200 dpi in its highest quality mode, which, when combined with its colour stability, will make it a must for any quality lead business.

The W6200 can also print full bleed, ensuring no white borders and this versatility makes it simpler for quick printers and graphics designers to produce finished print products without the need to trim edges.

"Canon is committed to providing the most advanced print solutions to our customers. With this product, Canon has further advanced and simplified wide format printing, helping the W6200 set new standards for its class," said Mr Brown.

"Not only does it have the most advanced print head technology but it also prints much faster, with greater print quality and all at a lower purchase price than any of its competitors.

"Combined with the longevity achieved using pigment inks, we believe the W6200 will become the benchmark machine in its class," said Mr Brown.

"It is the next step in Canon's determined mission to become the number one supplier in the graphic arts market - the W6200 will give proofing a whole new meaning."
