November 18 is Printing Industry Day

The Awards dinner will be held at the Sydney Shangri-La Hotel on Friday 18 November 2005. They will follow the LIA's Biennial Conference technical program day to be held at the Turner Hall at the Ultimo Campus of Sydney TAFE.


The dinner will feature Printing Industries NSW Region PRINTNSW Business Achievement Awards in the categories of:
  • Best in Environmental Initiatives
  • Best in Business Practices
  • Best in Education and Training Initiatives
  • Best in Occupational Health & Safety Initiatives


    Long-term membership awards will also be made to eight companies that between them have notched up 275 years membership of Printing Industries.

    The GAMAA-LIA National Graduate Scholarship Prize will be awarded to one of nine finalist graduates who have won their state finals of the annual LIA-Heidelberg Graduate of the Year Award.


    The finalists are:

  • Darren Neindorf (West Australian Newspapers)
  • Daniel Quinn (Inprint Pty Ltd)
  • James Tibbot (Advanced Press)
  • Lee Gardisar (Precision Labels)
  • Jennifer Batt-Rawden (Business and Tourism Publishing)
  • Joey Mandile (Printgraphics)
  • John Golding (Colour Press).


    The technical program, originally part of the Get Connected conference rescheduled to 2006, will still go ahead on 18 November 2005. This day-long session begins at 8.30am and features an arresting line-up of talent including:

  • Robert Rosen, noted USA based industry guru, who will lead the day session examining what it is that sets the industries leading CEOs apart from the rest.
  • Phil Lawrence, well-known industry expert, who will speak on why looking after the environment is good for business.
  • A general debate on whether a paper proof will still be needed in 2010.
  • Malcolm Auld M.D. of the award-winning agency Mad Marketing, will wrap up the day.

    The speaker line-up also includes: David Crowther (Chromaticity); Dan Wilson, (Prepress I.T); Michael Stoddart (Adobe Systems); Greg Grace, Robert Coleman (Heidelberg ANZ).
