NSW gears up for record awards event
This years' PrintNSW Excellence Awards extravaganza themed 'A Splash of Colour . . .' has turned into a flood of colour following a deluge record numbers of entries.
Chairman of Judges Warwick Roden said he was amazed and excited at the strong support. "We have received more than a 100 per cent increase in both the number of companies entering and actual entries," he said.
"This has given the Judges a real challenge - particularly since the standard this year is so much higher than last year - and that was a good year."
Special Guest of Honour at the awards dinner on Friday 19 October will be the NSW Minister for Small Business and Minister for Regulatory Reform, The Hon. Joe Tripodi, MP.
Printing Industries NSW general manager, Robert Fuller, said this year's event would feature several changes following constructive feedback from 2006.
"We have opted for the more contemporary lounge dress instead of black tie and the event is being held at a more central location, Dockside Darling Harbour, close to plenty of after-party venues for guests looking to celebrate a little longer," he said.
"A Special Print Awards parking fee of just $12 for the night has been negotiated at an adjacent car park and there is a wide choice of accommodation for those wanting to stay overnight in and around vibrant Darling Harbour.
"Our 'Splash of Colour ...' theme has opened up the creativity box for the event and there are plenty of surprises in store for guests on the night.
"The entertainment highlight is dual Mo Award winner and Peter Allen Performer of the Year 2006 Wayne Scott Kermond featuring his Swing Vegas performance. Many Sydneysiders will recognise Wayne from his outstanding stage performance of Sammy Davis Jnr's life in the Candy Man.

"Add the well known and popular dance band Atomic, and we have a great recipe for a fantastic fun night."
Multi-talented personality John Elms will MC the evening making sure that everyone has a good time. The event will also feature a major industry announcement by Printing Industries NSW President Peter Goodwin which will be simultaneously announced by his Victorian President counterpart, Ray Keen at their Awards in Melbourne on the same night.
