Melbourne digital printer Nulab has picked up eight awards - including the top prize for Digital Printing-Novelty books – at the Print Industry of America’s (PIA) Premier Print Awards.

The US awards follow Nulab’s five-medal haul at last month’s Australian National Print Awards in Melbourne.

“After working hard over the last two years with physicists and color scientists at HP Indigo in Israel, developing new algorithms and ink just for us, I felt we finally achieved true photographic results with our Indigo Presses,” says Nulab executive director Michael Warshall.

“So, we entered the Australian National Print Awards and walked away with 5 medals including Gold for the judges Highly Commended Award for digital printing. The judges commented that our winning entry was an example of print at its finest. We also decided to enter the Printing Industries of America-Premier Print Awards for the first time.”

The PIA awards are an international competition with thousands of entries from all over the world.

Warshall says he heard the good news earlier this week. “I just received a letter to tell us that we took out eight awards, including the top prize for Digital Printing-Novelty Books. This was a Nuovo album by Joshua Holko.

“What an amazing year so far,” says Warshall. “A huge thanks to all our staff and the photographers who provided the awesome work for these. Joshua Holko, Steve Scalone, AIPP, Mauro Cantelmi. This reinforces our position as Australia's most awarded digital printer.”
