Océ JetStream sales take off in Europe

Océ's new JetStream inkjet printer proves popular throughout Europe, reporting five sales in the weeks since drupa.

The first sale of the Océ JetStream was announced pre-drupa to the US-based Direct Group. The new post-drupa sales are to Italian transpromo printer Gruppo Selecta, which has taken delivery of one Océ JetStream 1500 printer and has options on two more to be delivered in 2009, and the Slovakian transaction printer Cromwell, which has bought two JetStream 1500 models.

In the Cromwell purchase the two Océ JetStream printers are to replace two conventional offset presses that the company uses for preprinting mailing shells.

"The two Océ JetStreams will enable us to accelerate and increase the flexibility of our entire workflow," said managing director Dalibor Malek. "We are looking to complement our traditional transaction printing services by expanding the transpromo business. This isn't possible with offset preprints, which is why we took the decision to divest part of our part of our offset fleet and place greater emphasis in future on digital full colour printing."

Announcing the Gruppo Selecta order, vice president Nicola Muraro said: "Full colour high-volume transaction printing has now become affordable. This brings colour within the reach of enterprises whose budget constraints might previously have forced them to take the black and white route to communicating with their customers."

The three Océ JetStream 1500 inkjets will give Selecta the ability to produce almost 100 million A4 colour pages per month in duplex mode.

The Océ JetStream family offers five models with speeds from 675 to 2,700 A4 impressions per minute, with an easy upgrade path from entry level to higher models within the family.
