Octopus wraps its tentacles around Bull DSP

The Octopus X4 wide format UV printer is the first of its kind to be installed in Australia, with Bull DSP established to take advantage of the machine's versatile ability to output on both flexible and rigid substrates.

Cyrachrome launched the Octopus X4 in Australia last year, with the machine targeted as a high quality and cost effective alternative to the other wide-format solutions on the market. Bull DSP will run the Octopus X4 in tandem with its parent company Bull Graphics, a design studio that encompasses all types of promotional, marketing and advertising material.

Bull Graphics managing director Phil James claims the versatility of the Octopus X4 has opened up a range of possibilities for the new business venture. “It can print on virtually anything up to 2050mm wide and 40mm thick, and while the UV inks are ideally suited to outdoor applications, the market we are chasing encompasses a whole lot more than just signage. We've been getting great results on everything that we've put through it.”

Bull DSP is the result of a partnership between Phil James and veteran sign printer Noel Hannigan, and CyraChrome managing director Michael Laird is confident of the potential the Octopus X4 will offer the venture. “Bull DSP is a good example of how the Octopus X4 can be used to generate new business and provide new avenues for sales,” he says. “With the Grapo range continuing to grow with the addition of a three metre wide machine and a flatbed device, we see great potential for the growth of wide format UV printing in this country.”
