Lindsay Yates is an award winning offset printing company in Sydney’s Artarmon. Steeped in the traditions of quality printing, this year it launched boldly into high-end digital production with the installation of a B2-size HP Indigo press. Now industry members can see for themselves how the integration went and hear how offset and digital can work side-by-side.

Getting digital to successfully work alongside established offset p=workflows and production practices has been the defining characteristic of commercial printing for the past decade. Sometimes established offset printers find it harder than digital start-ups to come to grips with the new paradigm.

The Lindsay Yates Group, whose motto is Tradition meets the modern world, is a well-known Sydney offset and digital printer, which runs Heidelberg

A1 and A2 offset presses and a range of digital presses. These now include a HP Indigo 10000 to assist with offset migration in the short run space.

A comprehensive bindery and finishing department has always been a feature of LYG, which has also implemented a massive workflow upgrade with Apogee JDF Data Exchange from its Tharsten MIS. The aim is to drive short run jobs through at high volume.

The Lithographic Institute of Australia (LIA) invites members and other industry professionals for a plant tour of Lindsay Yates Group next Tuesday Oct 27. The popular tours allow unfettered access to some of the nest and most innovative work places in the industry. Following the site tour there will be a two-course dinner and presentations from LYG and Currie Group/HP, along with a Q&A session, at the Freeway Hotel, corner of Reserve Road and the Gore Hill Freeway,
