Olympic partner Kodak hosts industry games tour
John Della of Pageset was among an international troupe of graphic arts professionals hosted at the Bejing games.
The benefits of being one of Kodak’s most favoured customers in the region paid off big time for John Della in scoring his “trip of a lifetime” to a front-row seat at the Olympic games. “I cannot thank Kodak enough for their hospitality. It was truly amazing,” he said.
The ebullient Della was escorted to the opening ceremony by Steve Venn, Kodak GCG Asia Pacific managing director, along with Michael Casamento of PMP, as part of the company’s promotional response to the Olympics.
“To witness the opening ceremony unfold before our eyes was truly amazing. The atmosphere inside the ‘birds nest’ was electric,” said John Della. “And then I was lucky enough to be in the second row to cheer on our Aussie girls in the pool and witness gold and bronze for Australia, then proudly stand to sing the national anthem,” he said.
According to Della (pictured on left with Steve Venn and Michael Casamento at the Opening Ceremony.) the side benefit of meeting so many other industry VIP guests from around the world was a highlight of the trip.
“To meet and enjoy the company of printers from all around the globe was truly memorable and friendships have been formed that should last for years to follow.”
Kodak is one of the longest standing partners with the Olympics and this is its final Games. At Beijing Olympic Village Kodak systems are producing more than 1.2 million security badges and credentials for Olympic athletes, officials, volunteers and sponsors.
At the massive Kodak Image Centre badges are output on Kodak thermal printers while a Nexpress is producing on-demand, full-colour materials such as postcards, newsletters and poster-sized prints of key images for display purposes.
