On Demand keeps up to speed with HP Indigo 7000
Bruce Peddelsden’s On Demand installs the first HP Indigo 7000 in Australia.
The Melbourne-based business has always had a strong Indigo presence, housed by two Indigo 5000s. The decision to replace one of the 5000s with a new 7000 press in December last year came as a result of On Demand needing faster turn-around times to keep up with high-volume work.
“The 7000 offers greater throughput,” explained Peddelsden (pictured). “The type of volumes that we get mean we either needed to purchase a new machine or upgrade to one that is faster.”

Capable of printing 120 A4 pages per minute in colour or 240 A4 pages per minute monochrome, the HP Indigo 7000 can also print up to seven colours and match 97 per cent of the Pantone colour range.
According to Phillip Rennell, general manager of Currie Group's digital business, the 7000 will offer a number of opportunities to On Demand and its customers by enabling expansion into areas such as variable data, direct marketing and photobooks.
“On Demand is at the leading edge of digital print,” Rennell said.
“The work the company is doing, particularly in variable data is taking that medium to a new level. The HP Indigo 7000 is the ideal press to drive growth.”
There has been no looking back for Peddelsden, who is more than pleased with the results so far.
“Now we are running at speeds that are 70 per cent faster than the original machine while still having the same well-proven Indigo quality and reliability,” he said.
