Valued at $15,000, the 2014 GAMAA Industry Overseas Internship Grant provides the opportunity to travel internationally for work and study in a wide range of disciplines, from print, graphic design and marketing all the way through to new media. During the internship, the successful applicant will be called upon to generate a research paper targeted at growing the Australian market. Karen Goldsmith, GAMAA executive director, said, “GAMAA is committed to promoting leadership through further education. The GAMAA Grant enables the successful applicant to discover world’s best practices and to tap into trends that are happening in our industry outside of Australia. It is the gathering of knowledge from multiple sources that will fuel the sustainability of our industry and GAMAA is pleased to provide this unique opportunity.” Previous year’s winner Arin Tahmasian, account executive from Upstream Print Solutions, was able to use the Grant for a 24-day tour of the US and UK hitting key sites and events such as SMB Nation in Las Vegas, DMA in Chicago and Cross-Media in London. Tahmasian praises the experience and the opportunities it gave to learn from the world’s leading industry experts. “It was an amazing experience to meet with my peers… and discuss the impact technology has on our industry, and how both print and digital can be used in conjunction to increase the effectiveness of customer communication,” said Tahmasian. Those are keen to apply from the Grant are encouraged to contact Karen Goldsmith on (02) 9869 0010 to discuss their proposal.
