Oxford Printing makes a mark with metallic ink
Installation of Roland SOLJET PRO III XC-540MT allows Sydney-based Oxford Printing and Promotions to move into wide format printing.
Looking to add value and enhance its range of specialised services, Oxford approached Roland DG to explore the options available in wide format. Initially purchasing the Roland XJ-640 production printer for signage and banner work, Oxford took a further step and invested in the XC-540MT for its print and cut feature and the metallic ink offering. “To have the ability to deliver specialised short run print & cut, metallic jobs is excellent,” said De Waele.
“Instead of having to produce plates and offset and foil, we can now deliver short run print and cut metallic jobs on demand. If a customer wants one metallic poster, they can have it.”

Oxford took delivery of the XC-540MT in mid-February this year, and reported a steady flow of jobs soon after. “They are both running day and night at present for a large campaign we have won,” said De Waele. “We are confident that offering this specialised service will help us to attract more jobs and ultimately add value to our business.”
The XC-540MT, featuring the world’s first eco-solvent metallic ink, was launched at the Visual Impact Image Expo in October 2009. According to John Wall, Roland DG sales and marketing manager, the new metallic ink has generated a huge amount of interest since its release, with Roland DG selling the first XC-540MT only 10 minutes into the show.
“The metallic solution offered by the XC-540MT has been well received by the market and customers who have purchased the product have been very impressed at the results the metallic ink produces,” he said. “We are pleased that Oxford Printing has accepted the metallic ink technology as part of their offering to their customers.”
