The sale of a Versant 180 colour digital press to Melbourne printer Dinkums Print & Design - which already runs a Versant 80 - marks Fuji Xerox's 650th Versant sale around the country. The milestone deal was announced on the opening day of PacPrint 2017 in Melbourne.
"It was probably the booklet maker that tipped us over in the end," says Dinkums Print owner John Wilson. "We've had the 180 for about 3 or 4 weeks now, it's installed and up and running, and we love the booklet maker.
"I don't drive these things that much but the guys that do - they swear by it. It trims the top and bottom edge, and the long edge, so that obviously saves on people being out the back on the guillotine cutting booklets. To get the job right off the machine and be able to give it to the customer, it's a very good thing."
Wilson bought the Swanston St, Carlton-based company three years ago after exiting the corporate world following a career of more than 30 years.
"It got to the point in my career where I'd had enough working for big companies and wanted to do my own thing."
Since launching in 2014, the Versant range quickly reached the 218-installation milestone in 2015, and was also recognised as for its innovation by the Japanese Society of Printing Science and Technology. Earlier this year, Fuji Xerox Australia launched two new presses –Versant 3100 Press and the Versant 180 Press for the production colour market, designed to offer end-to-end finishing capability and expanded new services in-house.
“Since we’ve launched the Versant range in market, we have seen tremendous uptake in Australia,” says Quentin Sandery, national manager, production solutions, Fuji Xerox Australia. “The ability to get more done with less is the secret behind Versant’s success. The range offers greater efficiency, end to end solutions and the ability to streamline operator workflows to allow business owners to focus on what matters the most – their business.”
