The Victorian Minister for Energy, Environment & Climate Change affirmed her government's support for innovation in printing as she cut the ribbon to open PacPrint 2017.
Flanked by PacPrint board members Adrian Fleming of PrintIQ, Ron Patterson of Printing Industries, Anthony Parnemann of EFI, and Anthony Lewis of Konica Minolta, the Hon Lily D'Ambrosio voiced her enthusiasm for the spirit of progress PacPrint represents. "The excitement that is evident in the room is really demonstrative of how much progress there has been in new technologies," D'Ambrosio said.
Energy was key in the minister's remarks, as she noted the Victorian government's aim of supporting not only research and development of new energy technologies, but the commercialisation of those technologies into the future. "Industries are looking for new ways to become productive in a world that is becoming very challenging in terms of globalisation and increasing energy costs.
"The new technologies in energy are so inspiring and have such great potential to provide a new way for the printing industry to evolve, and not just remain relevant but to become a new part of the solution in terms of industries reducing energy bills. It's going to be a fantastic way for manufacturing industries in particular to adopt new technologies that have been developed right here in this country," D'Ambrosio said.
With her best wishes for a successful few days, the minister then cut the ribbon, officially opening PacPrint 2017. "It is a great delight for this exhibition to be in Melbourne. We are the energy hub of the country, and we are determined to become the new energy technology hub of the nation," she said.
