Paul Thompson leads Canon production print systems team
Realignment sees Paul Thompson take charge of Canon’s new production print systems team.
Along with this new development, Canon has also created two more groups within marketing, sales and services: Canon Business Imaging (CBI) and Canon Consumer Imaging (CCI), which deliver office solutions and consumer products respectively.
According to Craig Manson, director of Canon business imaging, the changes are in-line with Canon’s journey to become more customer-focussed. “Traditionally, we had a product-orientated structure in our organisation,” he told Print21. “A couple of years ago, we moved to a channel-based structure
and we’re now making a move to have a customer-centric structure.”
Thompson, (pictured) who moved across this year from the Currie Group, sees a strong future for the group. “With a strong understanding of the needs of commercial and in-plant printers and the expansion of the digital range, we are in a great position to nurture our current customers and continue to grow our production business,” he said.
Manson also places a lot of trust in Thompson. “Because it all sits together under one person, Paul, we will be much more proactive in terms of our ongoing service obligations and what we want to achieve for the customer,” he said. “We haven’t crafted it ourselves, our customers have told us that this is what they want. It’s not about us. It’s about saying ‘what does the market want?’”
