People power proves important to developing print

Printing Industries Victorian office is targeting a major part of its training to people development.

General manager, Printing Industries Victoria and Tasmania, Ron Patterson, said the Association believed that one of the main instigators of success creation and maintenance was people development.

"As we finally emerge from the difficulties and frustrations that we all experienced as a result of last year’s global financial crisis, we need to focus on what needs to be done to capitalise on the opportunities that will be generated as the Australian economy continues to improve.

"Moreover, the smartest operators won’t wait for the opportunities to arise; they will go out and create them for themselves!

"It is with this in mind that we urge our members to consider two of the most important and influential training courses we currently offer. These are Effective Sales in Print & Communications - March 18/19 & 25/26 and Dynamic Leadership Skills which will run over May 4, 5 & 6.

About the courses: Effective Sales in Print & Communications - March 18/19 & 25/26.

The late US publisher Red Motley was famous for his saying: "Nothing happens until somebody sells something" and it still rings true today for most successful businesses, but the truth is that good sales people can be hard to find. It therefore seems appropriate to develop (or refresh) them ourselves.

Effective Sales in Print & Communications will be run by the well renowned and highly experienced Shane Mahar whose animated style of training delivery will ensure that all participants will finish the four-day course with the knowledge and enthusiasm necessary to succeed in the demanding world of sales. The course will cover:

Motivation
Positive belief systems
How to find new business
Determining customer needs
Selling benefits and value
Gaining rapport & overcoming objections
Major account creation & on-going repeat sales
If vibrant, dynamic & industry specific training is needed for you or your sales staff, this course is for you. Special discounts apply for members.

Dynamic Leadership Skills – May 4, 5 & 6

Are good leaders born or are they a product of their environment? There is now no doubt that some individuals have a natural propensity to lead, but that without good quality mentoring and development these natural attributes often whither and die! If you need to have more leaders within your organisation or a well thought out succession plan this course could well be what you or your key staff may need. Effervescent course leader Shane Mahar ensures that it covers:

In a recent Printing Industries survey 66.5 per cent of respondents stated that the Australian printing and communications industries did not have sufficient active leaders. Moreover 71 per cent of the same respondents admitted that they had no formal coaching or mentoring plan within their company. Now is the time to do something about it!

Venue: both courses will be run at Printing Industries Offices. Unit 3 5-7 Compark Circuit, Mulgrave, Victoria.
