Label luminaries packed into the LATMA Label Awards and Conference 2014 in Kiama to celebrate the industry’s best in class. Special congratulations go out to awards chairman Peter Sage who was inducted into the LATMA Hall of Fame at the event, in recognition of his years of service and support for the association and its members.
More than 80 printers and converters gathered at the Sebel Harbourside Resort on April 4-5 to acknowledge some of the highest achievers and share industry insights. As the night’s winners were rewarded for their dedication to quality and excellence, LATMA president Allan Dabscheck took to the stage to present Sage and invite him into the Hall of Fame.
Sage tells Print21, “It was very much a surprise. You don’t do this sort of thing to gain accolades, but of course it’s such an honour to be recognised by your peers. It’s a great privilege.”
The appointment was awarded for Sage’s many years of assistance to people in the industry, championing the LATMA Awards since 1991, his close involvement with the World Label Awards and representation of LATMA on the world stage. Sage joins a short list of well-respected industry names to receive the distinction, including Dabscheck, Syd Staas, Wally Jim Cryer, Harold McKay, David McMurray and Don Woolman.
Guests were then introduced to Andrew Maxwell, who will work with Sage on future events and take up the reins when Sage ultimately moves on from the role.
The event also saw association consolidation once again take centre-stage, with LATMA announcing its plans to come together with the Australian and New Zealand Flexographic Technical Assocaition (ANZFTA). Guests were invited to discuss the associations’ synergies and future together, exploring the benefits and opportunities for members offered by ongoing consolidation in the industry.
