Future Print has expanded its apprenticeship training program with the release of 12 more online modules based on 'blended learning' - a combination of on-site, off-site and online components.
"It's exciting to see how far our Apprenticeship Training has come over the past couple of years, and this is obviously another really important step forward," said PIAA project consultant Michelle Lees. “Blended models allow training to be available when and where it suits workers and in a contemporary and appealing format,” Lees said, adding that blended training is “particularly valuable in remote and regional areas to enhance the learning experience in between contact with the apprentices’ training supervisor.”
Following a successful pilot study of the initial eight online modules that were evaluated by registered training organisations (RTOs), businesses and apprentices, the 12 additional online training resources have been developed with the support of Printing Industries and the AMWU.
The 12 new units of competency are:
- Produce PDF files for on screen display
- Finish a Digital Product
- Transfer Digital Files
- Troubleshoot Digital Media
- Use Digital Media Consumables
- Use Digital Processes
- Use Digital Workflow
- Apply software applications to digital production
- Preflight and import complex images for digital device
- Set up and produce complex digital print
- Set up and Produce Specialised Digital Print
- Use colour management for production
The new resources have been made available to participating RTOs in the Future Print project to augment their capability to deliver blended training throughout the rapidly changing industry.
