Pope Print tipped for TV takeoff

William Bisset has gone from being Geon’s face of Timaru to general manager of Pope Print, where he intends on expanding the company’s services outside of printing.

Bisset (pictured), was appointed general manager of the Pope Print – the largest commercial printer between Dunedin and Christchurch – in December last year by managing director, Mark Gallagher.

According to Bisset, he decided to accept the role after Geon’s Timaru site became purely a sales office of which he was the only staff (last week, Geon announced that following earthquakes, both the Christchurch and Timaru sites will be merged together into a new premises).

“The motivation was the fact that my clients wanted to keep business local,” Bisset explained. “It was becoming increasingly difficult with clients needing local design and print facilities, so it made sense to accept the position with Pope Print.”

Part of Bisset’s vision is to extend Pope Print into an MSP (multi-service provider). As an expert in multimedia and TV production, Bisset intends creating a video studio for Pope Print. “Multimedia and video is an important part of the marketing package,” he said.

“For example, if a business comes to us wanting print for marketing, we can also provide short promotional videos along with social networking tools which can help bring them extra business. We can also generate more print work through offering different mediums – it’s great to have the skill base to do that.”
