Presstek is latest mover in plate consolidation

Presstek, which pioneered processless technology, moved to shore up its production capability by buying the largest independent US plate manufacturer, Precision Lithograining. The US$13 million deal will not only strengthen the Presstek Anthem plate line but will also provide capital to expand Precision Lithogrining’s own range of plate products.

Presstek already supplies 90% of the plates for DI presses installed worldwide. Presstek’s Dimension Series of CTP systems are available in two-, four-, and eight-page models. The company also manufactures chemistry-free printing plates for both DI press and CTP applications.
