Print power versus online media – who will win?
Print media has held its own against the constant presence of radio and television media but how much of a threat is the internet?
The printing industry’s Get Connected Conference in Sydney next month will examine the rise of computer communication and look at some of its likely impacts on the printing industry based on new research.
The impact of online media on branding, consumer patterns and – ultimately – media spend decisions by advertisers will be discussed in light of research recently completed by Professor Marilyn Jones at Bond University. Ms Jones will be a keynote speaker at the conference and will discuss the research conclusions as part of her address.
Ms Jones is Head of Department (Marketing) and Assistant Professor of Marketing at Bond University. Her research covers retailing, marketing strategy and consumer behaviour at schools all over the world including the University of Innsbruck (Austria), Bond University South Africa, University of Illinois Chicago, University of Houston, and Indiana University.
Early bird conference bookings are open until 28 October 2005. The international conference will be held from 16-19 November 2005 at the Sydney Shangri-La Hotel.
It will also include an extensive list of business and technical speakers from 10 countries. Get Connected will feature an international forum and printing industry performance presentations from Australia, China, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Sri Lanka.
The conference is a consolidation of Printing Industries NSW Conference and Business Awards, the LIA's Biennial Conference and the Forum of Asian Graphic Arts Technology being hosted for the first time by Australia.
Printing Industries will present its 2nd Annual PrintNSW Business Achievement Awards during the conference. The LIA will present its Graduate of the Year Award and showcase the individual state winners from around Australia.
Entries for the Printing Industries NSW Business Awards close on Friday 7 October. Awards criterion and entry information is also on the Get Connected website. Full conference registration and program information is also on the website.
