Clarke Murphy Print has come up with an innovative solution to a big problem for some who are self-isolating in this time of the Covid-19 pandemic, a recyclable desk.

The Artarmon based printer has developed a work-from-home desk made from 100 per cent recyclable Envirocore board called Build-a-Desk.

Benn Murphy, director at Clarke Murphy Print, said the desk was designed here in Australia, and it is made with 100 per cent Australian-sourced materials.

“We initially developed the desk with children in mind, for playing and distance learning,” Murphy said. “But, it can be for any adult workplace as well. It can help you regain your kitchen table."

Murphy said the idea for the desk came from the point-of-sale and industrial design work the company does.

“In 48 hours we had prototyped the desk, and then we built a website, and within 72 hours we had a fully functional website and we started selling the desk,” he said.

“So far, the desk has had a fantastic reception, and we’re going to have more products up on the website soon.”

To order your own desk, go to www.buildadesk.com.au. The desk retails for $149, including GST and delivery anywhere in Australia. There is a colour choice of white and raw.

Keep an eye out for Murphy tomorrow morning (Saturday 18 April) on Channel 7’s Sunrise programme at around 9am.
