Printers called on to show true colours

A little bit of print and a whole lot of rugby world cup fever is taking place in Konica Minolta’s virtual jersey design competition with the winner scoring a $2,000 office party.

Proving you’re never too old to tackle social media, the world’s oldest imaging company has taken to Facebook to execute the competition. Interaction in the virtual social realm is a key component of the campaign, as groups need to ‘like’ the More Than Print page to take part.

Developed by social media company TWO Social, the competition celebrates both Konica Minolta’s history and relevance to the modern workplace. Campaign manager, Sarah Peacock, says the brief was to reflect Konica Minolta’s passion for print, colour, innovation and the latest technology.

“By utilising social media and traditional printing methods the competition not only showcases Konica Minolta’s historical presence, but also demonstrates the brand’s currency.”

So far 1,534 people are competing to win the office party, which will take place around the time of the final game.

Prue Carlton, digital marketing specialist at Konica Minolta, says with the rugby world cup in full swing the company felt that it was a good time to bring out a colourful campaign.

“Targeted at office workers and those within the print industry, we are taking the elements of what we are about and using that in an interactive way to raise brand awareness.

“Social media is opening a new era of interaction, bringing us closer to the end user. The power of engaging with the end user unveils what’s really happening day to day. This provides real insight for continuous improvement and results,” she says.

To enter participants must download the Show Your Colours rugby jersey template, and design a jersey that represents their company. They then upload either a photo or video of the jersey to the Konica Minolta site. For more information visit: facebook.com/morethanprint
