PrintEx03 - Creo sells Lotem 400 to Specialty Press, Albury, New South Wales

The sales is part of a string of successes in first half of the year that has Creo increasing its leading position in the thermal market, according to Steve Dunwell, sales director. "It's been a tough year for everyone, but we've not only maintained our positon but increased our lead in the market. I'm confident we'll be able to announce even more sales at this PrintEx."

He predicts Creo will sell all the equipment featured on the stand at the show.

Creo’s reputation for excellent customer support was the decider for Specialty Press. "We decided to go with Creo because of their commitment to regional centres, their support infrastructure and remote capabilities,” says Brendan Munk, director of Specialty Press. “The Lotem 400 fits our business for its size, quality and throughput—those factors won us over."

Specialty Press will also install the new Creo Integris 400 proofing solution. The Integris produces calibrated, high-quality digital contone proofs using the latest inkjet technology integrated with Creo workflow systems for low-cost proofs. The Integris proofing solutions incorporates end-to-end colour management and streamlined job control.

Other Lotem 400 Success Stories

The Lotem 400 CTP device also helps trade shops to increase their business. "The installation of our Lotem 400 went very smoothly,” recalls Paul McInnery, director of Prominent Digital of Shepparton, Victoria, part of the Prominent Group.

“It had few teething problems and Creo’s service was always second to none. Since going CTP, we have lifted our plate production from 50 percent with film for the Prominent Group to 90 per cent with CTP. The feedback that we have had from the printers has been that they don’t wish to work with any other plates than the plates we now supply.”

In Melbourne, Victoria, the Lotem 400 platesetter is equipped with the multi-cassette unit which feeds plates of different sizes automatically, allowing for unattended production of high quality work for Eastern Press.

"We are extremely happy with our Lotem 400 and the quality, performance and reliability it has given us,” says Frank Hilliard, production manager of Eastern Press. “In terms of quality, it has made our high-quality work so much easier. The ability to punch inline has also brought press make-ready times down to around six minutes, and made fit problems virtually non-existent.”

Eastern Press runs the Lotem 400 with the Brisque Impose workflow, uses Preps imposition software, and an Iris4PRINT proofer, all from Creo.
