Printgraphics keen on Komori long perfector

Victorian printers, Ray and Jill Keen, make the trip to Japan to inspect their brand new LS1040 at the high-tech Komori assemly plant.

The well-known industry identities left Melbourne behind last week to spend two days touring the Komori plants in Yamagata, Japan, along with a visit to the new Komori super plant in Tskuba. There they were ableto witness the final testing of their recently purchased Komori LS1040 10-colour press before it is shipped to Australia this week.

Travelling with them was Ferrostaal's Gerard Wintle, who said that the couple were impressed not only by the machine but also by the Komori facilities throughout Japan. “They have been Komori users for quite some time and appreciate the print quality and reliability of the equipment,” he said.

“The offer was put to them to go and view the manufacturing of the Komori machinery and give them an understanding of how it is made and why it performs the way it does. Part of that is to understand the Japanese culture and care that is taken during the manufacturing. Ray and Jill were both so impressed by the respect given to people and property in Japan.”

The Komori LS1040 will arrive on 26 March and is expected to be installed by late April. Wintle believes that one of the machine’s selling points for Printgraphics was its BG emissions certificate. “For a truly green printer like Printgraphics, having a machine like this is a big plus,” he said.
