Clive Denholm, CMYKhub is leading an industry fundraising effort to support the Hands at Work charity’s efforts to establish a children’s sanctuary in the Congo.
The charity is seeking to raise $35,000 to build a safe place where vulnerable children in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) can receive education and food. According to Denholm CMYKhub is kicking in $20,000 to get the fundraising started. He also wants to put a group of people together next year to visit Africa in person and to increase the support for the children.
“Over 26,000 children die every day due to hunger. The areas that Hands at Work operate are in some of the most affected parts of Africa. It costs just $20 per month to ensure that an orphaned child has food, clothing and education,” he said.
His aim is to galvanize the printing industry to get behind the appeal, by printing companies not only making a donation but also spreading the word to their customers. "The printing industry talks to every business in Australia and New Zealand. If everyone forwarded the link [below] to their customers we would increase awareness of the work being done."
George Snyman, founder of Hands at Work in Africa, has been travelling through Australia this month, speaking on behalf of the vulnerable children. “We seek to create a place of safety and hope for these most vulnerable children in Kikula, by empowering this community to care for it’s own. Together, we can make a lasting difference!”
