Product Almanac: 7 July 2010
Keep up to date with the latest product releases. This week sees Screen's new Truepress Jet520CP headed for Australia/New Zealand and the release of FusionPro version seven.
Screen introduces entry-level inkjet web press
First previewed at IPEX, Dainippon Screen Australia has confirmed availability of the new Truepress Jet520CP (for Commercial Press), which the company believes is perfectly suited to the Australian and New Zealand markets. The Truepress Jet520 CP twin-engine duplex printing package combines high-resolution 720 x 720 dpi piezo imaging in full colour, with an entry-level price tag that will attract users with print volumes from around 1.2 million A4 pages per month and up.
At 720 x 720 dpi and with variable ink droplet size, the Truepress Jet 520CP has the highest resolution of any continuous-feed inkjet digital system. Screen’s expertise in screening technology and colour management helps to reproduce rich, high-quality images and crisp, sharp text; suiting this press to the full range of commercial print such as books, booklets, brochures and advertising, as well transactional-promotional variable data applications.

Akira Hayakawa, managing director of Screen Australia notes: “At 430 A4 page impressions per minute in full duplex mode, the new Truepress Jet 520CP has a level of productivity that suits many printers’ requirements in the Australian and New Zealand markets. With full data variability and zero make-ready times between jobs, coupled with a much lower investment cost, it offers a compelling reason for commercial printers to enter high volume digital web printing.”
He adds: “If a customer’s digital business grows to a point where higher productivity is needed, the 520CP can be upgraded on-site to 860 A4 page impressions per minute and even 1,720 by running at 128 metres per minute.”
A range of inline or near-line finishing options is available including roll-to-sheet; roll-to-fold and even complete book lines with stitchers, perfect binders and three-knife trimmers available from third parties. In the Truepress Jet 520CP package, Hunkeler unwinder and rewinders are included.
The commercial print application is further reinforced by the introduction of new grades of gloss coated paper that have been specifically developed for use with the Truepress Jet520 press family.
Hayakawa concludes: “Although the 520CP is a new model, customers can feel confident because it is based on the same technology that has seen SCREEN become world market leader in digital web colour presses, with over 200 installations globally – including one in New Zealand – out of an estimated 320 from all manufacturers.”
Screen is anticipating Truepress Jet 520CP installations in Australia before the end of 2010.
