Q&P Roadshow 2004 – Victoria /Tasmania
Visiting users of Q&P all around Australia on a regular basis is part of the business plan for David and Judy Bell who head up the development team at Quote & Print and this month saw the start of this year’s Road Shows.
The user days and site visits provide a great opportunity for interaction between the development team and users. (Pictured are some of the attendees settling in for the internet session.) They enable the user companies and their staff, to learn how to use the software more effectively and efficiently, to pick up tips and tricks to apply in their business. They also learn about new modules available and their use in the market place. Importantly they also provide the developers with a chance to learn of the concerns and wish lists of those on the ground, to share their views on the future directions and issues the industry will face over the next three to five years.
The Melbourne user day held Thursday 18th of March at the Clarion on Canterbury hotel saw some 40 owners, management and staff from companies as far afield as Tasmania and Geelong attend one or more of the days sessions.
With the increasing demand for printers to service their established clients via the web, Davin Hamnett reviewed in detail the capabilities of the Quote & Print internet interface which is currently in use by five companies in Melbourne and on order by several others. The benefits as outlined by Davin were the ability of companies to further service and ‘lock in’ clients while providing seamless integration to Q&P modules of Quotes & Jobs, Stock Control and Accounts. Feedback from several clients using the software enabled other users to appreciate the scope of the interface.
Eric Dunn from the Management Accounting firm Blackburn Lazer reviewed the industry benchmarking figures and emphasised the need for each print business to have timely reporting of profits, and the system to identify profit leaks. This was illustrated by examples from within Quote & Print showing how easily profit leaks could be identified.
The Accounts and Production ‘Hints and Tips’ sessions provided an overview of new features that had been added to Quote & Print in the last 12 months and saw each user take away at least one time saving idea or new approach to using the software.
After visiting several Melbourne sites, on Friday the “Q&P Road Show” then headed towards Adelaide via the Great Ocean Road.
Stay tuned.
