QuarkXPress 7 sees the light of day

The upgrade combines new and enhanced design features with multi-channel publishing, collaboration, and job driven workflow capabilities to allow users to deliver faster creative development for print and Web publishing.
QuarkXPress 7 represents the first major revision of the software since 2003. Quark has tried to optimise design and minimize production errors, with some of the new features including transparency, drop shadows, and support for Unicode and OpenType.

The other main new feature is its improved collaboration functionality. Several users can now work on the same page at the same time, cutting the downtime associated with users waiting around for other people involved with a project to finish working on a particular page.

Mike Maziarka, director at strategic consulting firm InfoTrends, claims the additions to the latest version of QuarkXPress are the result of the company’s research into the needs of the creative and publishing industries.

“QuarkXPress 7 directly addresses how to work more efficiently with a product that is world renowned, thereby raising the bar in the desktop publishing industry, and will be warmly welcomed by new and established customers alike,” says Maziarka.
