Queensland printers encouraged to put safety first
With the financial support of the Queensland Government and OH&S expertise provided by the Workplace Health & Safety Qld - Department of Industrial Relations, Printing Industries has produced an important new tool for employers and employees in the printing and graphic arts industry.
The Printing Industries OH&S induction manual allows employers to ensure that their new (and existing) employees receive adequate and correct information about occupational health and safety within their company.
Queensland general manager, Neal McLary said the manual addresses important day to day OH&S matters such as safe handling of machinery and consumables, awareness of company policies regarding safety, safety checklists and many more things that employees must be made aware of if employers are to meet their obligations.
“An important innovation is that the manual also contains sections that can become part of the employee’s employment file,” he said.
“The industry now has a resource which can be used as a cornerstone of workplace health and safety education and awareness.
“It also offers employers and employees the vehicle for ongoing ‘life long’ learning of Workplace Health and Safety issues.”
