Quote & Print launches major upgrade to its internet interface

Addressing the printing and graphic arts industry’s move to the online world, Q&P has upgraded the way the industry’s most popular MIS interacts with the internet. The radical change in information flows over the past few years means printing companies require a system that operates through a browser interface integrating many different activities of their business.

Q&P is designed, maintained and upgraded to client's requirements by a skilled team of programmers such as Yichuan (Louie) Xu, (pictured) who has many years experience in creating MIS for the printing industry. It is this ongoing specialisation that makes Q&P the first choice of so many graphic arts companies in Australia and New Zealand.

The latest upgrade, which is based on extensive consultation with Q&P clients, incorporates many new features making the system a true online management tool.

Among the new features are:

Online Stock Ordering

  • Order Approval System. All orders can now be stored in an approval queue waiting approval by senior management personnel.
  • Goods can be ordered in different units of measure, e.g. pads, reams, packs.
  • For pre-printed stock high resolution image previews are available in either PDF or GIF format.
  • There is provision for up to 20 generic stock groupings. This enables groups of companies to be able to order common stock.

Business Card and Personalised Stationary Ordering.

  • Support for Type 1 fonts is now included.
  • Business Card details and orders can be stored for later approval.
  • Business Card details are stored and can be recalled for reprinting.
  • Improved on line previewing.

Quotes & Jobs

  • User definable request for quotation screens.
  • Ability to handle on demand printing where the printer already has the file The user is able to add notes/ comments and due dates to the order. These new features make it even easier to service customers via the internet. One printer who installed the Quote & Print Internet Interface received a commitment from a client to place 100% of their printing through the interface. Another is using it to receive printing orders from over seas, and yet another is servicing the print requirements of seven hospitals in three different states with around 1000 different stock items.

The tight integration with the existing Quote & Print Windows software means that there is no rekeying of data. All relevant staff are notified by email when an order has been placed. All orders are placed in a queue for warehouse staff to manage. Items that are out of stock are automatically placed on back order. There is no need for dedicated computer staff., and all training is done by Quote & Print Trainers.

The Quote and Print Logistics and Forms Management modules provide comprehensive reporting for most customers with customised reports able to be written to satisfy any particular requirements. The Quote & Print dealer network means that there are qualified people in each state and New Zealand to assist in the implementation of the Internet Interface.
