Quote & Print passes on the MIS software torch
Local MIS pioneers, Judy and Dave Bell, are in the process of phasing themselves out of day-to-day software development at the industry’s iconic program.
Telco executive, Shanti Kumar, is taking over the running of software development of the printing industry-focused management information system. According to Judy and Dave, the handover will take place over a considerable time to ensure long-term continuity and stability in what is the most popular SME software in the region.
“We’ll still be around until after PacPrint in June next year in Melbourne. You don’t just walk away from something you’ve built over 26 years,” said Judy. The pair started Quote and Print in 1982, with the first Windows-based systems coming onstream in 1996. They are currently finalising the company’s Roadmap for the software for PacPrint and heading to Drupa to look at latest equipment and MIS capabilities.
This year has seen Q&P sales up by 40 per cent with the software being adopted by an ever-growing number of printing firms. “Shanti will bring expertise in areas such as sales, marketing and business development where we don’t have the same skills. It’s time to hand it over to ensure the long-term growth and future development of the software,” said Judy. "Our customers' investment in Quote and Print will be protected."
Shani Kumar is currently visiting Q&P distributors in New Zealand as part of a regional meeting strategy. A highly experienced businessman he has plans to expandadn develop Quote & Print and embark on an extensive export drive.
Dave Bell still heads up the development team in Sydney.
Passing on the torch; Dave and Judy Bell reach agreement with Shanti and Charmaine Kumar on the future direction of Quote & Print.
