Rhys Burton stepping down from KBA Australia

Burton will remain with KBA but will finish up as head of Australian operations in early December, heading back to his home country of New Zealand early in the New Year. Burton declined to provide details of what led to the decision but says he looks forward to both returning home and continuing his relationship with KBA.

“I am close to retiring and will now be able to enjoy another two years under contract in my homeland,” says Burton.

Burton also insists that the change in management does not signal any type of new direction for the Australian operations of KBA.

“The company is a wholly owned subsidiary of its German parent and we will continue to target the three markets of sheetfed offset, newspapers and magazines so I cannot see any of that changing.”

KBA secured a massive victory last year when it won a $70 million contract with West Australian Newspapers to install a Colora press line and a semi-commercial Comet press. Preliminary preparations for the installation are already underway and are scheduled to ramp up later in the year.
