Richard Rasmussen's Market Watch - May 2014
Keep up to date and across all the most recent industry movements, mergers and major installations with Richard Rasmussen, director of Ascent Partners. For the latest installment of Market Watch, there was very little action on the acquisition and merger front, but sadly four closures. On the equipment side also there were only five sales and installations reported.
Market Movements
The month of May saw four closures:
BJ Bookbinding and Finishing (VIC), in Tullamarine went into voluntary administration after incurring falling sales and bad debts. They join a long list of Melbourne trade bindery and finishing houses to close their doors over the past five years.
The NT Government Printer announced it will auction its equipment on 4th June, having closed its doors in early May. Is there a Government Printer in any state or territory remaining?
Melbourne magazine printer Graphic Impressions went into voluntary administration on 14th May, and Kwik Kopy Geelong will have its creditor’s meeting for voluntary creditor’s liquidations on 6th June.
Major sales and installations
Nulab (VIC), suppliers to the professional print market, announced it had installed two HP Indigo presses.
Signposts (SA) installed three (3) Roland DG Pro 4 – XF 640 wide format machines.
To beef up its Queensland operation leading trade printer CMYK Hub (QLD) purchased a new Ryobi 920 eight colour perfecting UV machine.
Rolls Pack (Vic) installed gravure press, the manufacturer of which was unnamed.
Wagner Labels (NSW) installed a Nuovo Gidue’s Combat M3 digital flexo machine.
Business on the Market
Recent sales has meant Ascent Partners have only a few businesses on the market at the moment in Vic, Eastern seaboard and WA. More stock is required.
