Ricoh makes grand entrance to graphic arts market
Ricoh differentiates itself from the high-end market serviced by the likes of the iGen3, NexPress and HP Indigo 5000, aiming instead to offer a cost-effective solution for print-for-pay environments with its range of digital printers.
PacPrint saw the launch of the new Aficio Colour 5560, a machine designed to offer the speed and functionality of a black and white device with the additional advantage of colour. Also custom designed for the lower end of the print production sector, the machine's in-line finishing capabilities assist print providers in achieving quick turnarounds through eliminating the need for manual post production.
According to marketing communications manager Norman Koslowski, Ricoh's new range of machines signals an expansion from its traditional focus on office document printing. “As the quality and productivity levels between office and production printing blur, Ricoh is seeking growth by targeting the new and growing production-lite market,” he says.
Koslowski also emphasises Ricoh's strategy in providing solutions to this specifically identified segment of the market. “For the industry suppliers its always going to be hard to meet this new segment and still make it affordable to the market. With our 'bottom-up' approach to product development we have the focus and expertise to offer on-demand printers devices that don't tie up a lot of capital for these complex, light jobs.”
